2 Wins in a Row

It was a pretty good weekend for me in Lake louise, Canada.  I'm here skiing the North American Cup Downhill race.  I was having good training runs leading up to the race day so I was really ready to get after it on race day.  I woke up feeling a little nerves on race day, which is a good thing because it really helps me focus in on the task at hand.  I kicked out of the starting gate knowing i could win the race if i just skied the way i know i can.  The out come of the day was the first Gold for me since my knee injury last season, as well as being the same course that put me out all last year.  It was a really good feeling knowing i still know how to go fast.  So day one over and know time to get ready for the next day so i can do the same thing.  On day 2 i was able to come away with another Win.  I remember now why i love this sport because it is so much fun to win after working so hard for it.  Thanks for reading, till next time.

First Training Run Back

I'm here in Lake Louise Canada at the first race back since my ACL injury.  This is the same race i crashed in last year and so it felt good to come down and show the hill who is boss.  The weather is really nice and the view is amazing from the start house.  I have to race a couple of the guys for the Downhill spot in the last training run so wish me luck.  I will keep you up to date on how Lake Louise goes,  stay tuned.  I'm back on the World Cup!  Let's Do The Cheese!

The Hunting Trip I Will Never Forget!

I went hunting with my Dad and some of his buddy's a couple of weeks ago.  We went up to Featherville  with the horses and the dirt bike's.  We were on a mission to kill some deer.  I went out a ridge on my dirt bike with Brandon(brother in law, in photo to right)  and my dad was going to ride the horse's up the canyon below us.  Perfect plan because about 5 min. into the hunt i was able to knock down a nice little 4 point.  I started to try and get my dad on the radio to come get my deer with horses when i could not hear my dad but another guy talking to my dad saying that my father had broken his leg and needed help ASAP.  I took off on my bike to go to my dad and when i got there he was starting to get really cold and was in a lot I mean a lot of pain with a broken leg, dislocated ankle and bone was even out through his skin.  We had called life flight and search and rescue, with both in route towards us all we could do for my Dad is try to keep him from going into shock by making him pain free as possible and keeping him warm.  We built 2 fires on either side of him and took off all our clothes and covered him with those as wells as a sleeping bag.  As we did all this it was snowing and so the Bird(helicopter) could not land and search and rescue/ambulance could not get to us for a long time.  My dad layed there with a broken leg for 7 hours with no drugs and in the cold snowing weather before we were able to pack him out with a stocks stretcher half a mile then four wheeler 2 miles then ambulance 4 miles then helicopter off the mountain.  He got a spot light on the news and 10 screws and 1 plate out of the whole ordeal.  It was a crazy trip and I'm just glad my daddy is going to have a full recovery.  Be careful out in the mountains and always go with someone.  Safe hunting this season!

Back Home

It is always the best feeling to land at the Boise airport and to be picked up by Mom and Dad.   I will be home for about a week now before heading to Park City, Utah.  I love being home because there is nothing like my own bed, home cookin by Momma Fish, and the family.  Its Fall in Boise, you know what that means?  Hunting season is in full swing.  I will be going deer hunting with my dad this weekend up in the Trinity's, just east of Boise.  I always have so much fun deer hunting; I feel so free and alive being up in the mountains hunting for dinner just like our ancestors did.  Wish me luck on the hunt and I'll let you know how it goes.

Shout Out To Best Gramp's Ever!

I just want to let my grandpa know that he is the best Grandfather I could have ever asked for.  He has blessed my life in so many ways I will never be able to repay him.  He has supported me financially and emotionally through my entire career.  He is most definitely one of my biggest inspirations.  He has been through so much and still makes me laugh with a smile on his face.  I was at his house a few days back and he was in so much pain but could still muster the energy to make me laugh.  I LOVE YOU GRAMP'S!

The Flying Fish is back.  We are down in Chile for 2 weeks.  It is so nice to be back on snow let me tell you.  You know you have a sweet job when you can't wait to get back to it.  Today I skied my first day of Full length down hill since my blown ACL in Nov.  It was a lot of fun to get back up to Downhill speeds!  I'm Back and Fishin' for Gold once again.
